The Earth is alive! It moves and breaths like a living being. It is a fascinating place that is full of mystery, awe, and even danger. Erupting volcanoes, shaking earthquakes, powerful hurricanes, destructive tornadoes, changing climate, and the unknown expanses of outer space thrill us and at the same time we wonder how and why these things happen. Earth's combined systems, such as the atmosphere, lithosphere, and hydrosphere have changed the human story of our past and continue to change our present and future.
